Years ago I was struck at by a rattle snake. It was around a time in my life when I couldn't seem to get away from snakes in general. Everywhere I went, I had a random snake thing happen. It was then a drummer for a pueblo in New Mexico told me that snakes are a messenger of change and a positive and powerful totem. He put a little white doeskin pouch around my neck, told me to fill it with important things and keep it close.
